Watching old cartoons (Bugs Bunny, especially) I was intrigued by the liberal use of Opera and Ballet themes in the scores. I always wanted a "search engine" that could identify those familiar melodies you can't quite put your finger on. I finally wrote my own. For the time being, it's limited to well-known "Classical" tunes. The database is growing; it currently contains about ninety melodies. The interface is intended for people who don't read music. This is somewhat distressing to those who do, but they get over it soon enough. Thanks to Thomas Douglas, and Bill and Dorothy Beck, for their help identifying the "mystery melodies."
